The 2025 Fiji Secondary Schools Hockey tournament is set to take place at Nasau Park in Levuka, Ovalau, starting from Thursday, August 19, and concluding on Saturday, August 23. This annual event will feature some of the best secondary school hockey teams from across Fiji competing for prestigious titles.

Participants will vie for top honors in multiple categories, including the under-16 Boys Noal Cup, the under-16 Girls Melaia Sandys Cup, the under-19 Girls Westmere Cup, and the under-19 Boys Bhasin Cup. Additionally, the tournament will include the renowned Inter-District Tournament, highlighting the John May Cup and the Sophia Raddock Cup.

This year, the Fiji Secondary Schools Hockey Association (FSSHA) has partnered with Venu Haulage Shipping Limited and Outback Range Pte Ltd as the main sponsors of the event. President Immanuel Prasad expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the sponsors’ commitment to promoting youth sports in Fiji. He emphasized the significance of this partnership, particularly since both sponsors have roots in Levuka, which adds a meaningful local touch to the tournament.

Prasad noted, “This partnership marks a significant milestone for our tournament. Their support reflects a shared commitment to empowering young athletes and promoting hockey across our islands.” The FSSHA is optimistic about the upcoming tournament, envisioning it as not only a celebration of athletic excellence but also a unifying event for young athletes from various regions of Fiji.

Events like this festival of youth sports present a promising opportunity for young talent to develop their skills, foster friendships, and enhance community spirit. The hopeful vision here is that by nurturing these budding athletes, Fiji is laying the groundwork for future sports stars.
