Fiji Football Association CEO Mohammad Yusuf expressed optimism regarding the country’s first-ever women’s futsal team, which is set to compete in the inaugural OFC Women’s Futsal Nations Cup in the Solomon Islands. Yusuf highlighted that the team is comprised of national-level players who are well-prepared for the upcoming competition. He noted, “The coach has selected all the national level players for the women’s futsal team; also the experience is there, so I don’t think they’ll be under pressure.” He added, “We have high hopes for these girls to reach the final and hopefully win, which would qualify them for the Futsal World Cup next year.” Yusuf also extended his gratitude to Fiji National Sports Commission Chair Peter Mazey and Minister for Sports Jese Saukuru for their support in aiding the team.
