Fiji’s Historic Win: Likuculacula Shines in OFC Women’s Futsal Championship

Koleta Likuculacula scored two goals as Fiji secured a 2-1 victory over Tahiti in their debut at the OFC Women’s Futsal Championship in the Solomon Islands.

The match came to life toward the end of the first half when Tahiti took the lead in the 15th minute through Remeha. Fiji quickly equalized, with Likuculacula skillfully controlling the ball on the right side of the Tahiti penalty area, then cutting onto her left foot to fire a shot past goalkeeper Corail Harry.

Tahiti faced a setback when Ninauea Hioe received a second yellow card, leaving her team short-handed for two minutes. Fiji aimed to capitalize on the advantage but couldn’t find the net during those moments. However, they eventually broke the deadlock in the final minutes of the match. Tahiti’s Harry made a remarkable double save from a free-kick by Fiji’s Cema Nasau, but she couldn’t stop Likuculacula from securing her second goal and sealing the victory for Fiji.
