The Republic of Fiji Military Forces is hosting its inaugural RFMF Reconciliation and Restoration event at the Sukunaivalu Barracks in Labasa.
The day commenced with a church service, laying the groundwork for a day dedicated to healing and reflection.
After the service, a series of discussions, known as talanoa sessions, will be facilitated by Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, the Commander of the RFMF, along with former military members involved in the takeover of the Sukunaivalu VC Barracks.
Although the event was set to conclude with a traditional Fijian reconciliation ceremony, called veisorosorovi, aimed at seeking forgiveness in a significant gesture, this portion has been postponed and will take place tomorrow.
In addition, the RFMF will offer an expression of forgiveness to the Province of Macuata in a separate reconciliation ceremony that will follow Fijian customs.
