Fiji’s Hilton Garden Inn: A $75 Million Investment in the Future

The Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, developed by Carpenters Group Fiji, officially launched its first phase yesterday. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Professor Biman Prasad emphasized that the $75 million investment highlights the vital role of the private sector in fostering economic growth and development in Fiji.

Situated at the Suva Foreshore, the initial phase is expected to be completed by August 2025. Steven Tucker, director of the construction management company Sinclair Brook, noted that the project will unfold in three phases over approximately five years. The next phase, focusing on retail development, will require an estimated $80 million, while the second hotel will potentially cost around $120 million, contingent on future assessments.

Prasad mentioned that the hotel will feature 178 rooms along with various amenities, including a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, and parking facilities, equipped with backup power and water supply. The second phase will introduce a waterfront retail space aimed at attracting both local and international retailers.

According to Prasad, Fiji’s ability to draw significant investments, such as the Hilton Garden Inn, demonstrates investor confidence in the country and its economy. He added that the government’s commitment to effective fiscal policies and economic reforms has preserved Fiji’s appeal as a competitive investment destination.

He further recognized the government’s efforts in creating a favorable environment for both domestic and foreign private sector investments. Prasad stated that the administration actively involves private sector representatives in various task force committees to leverage their insights and expertise.
