The Nasinu Town Council is poised to enhance its emergency response capabilities through the incorporation of advanced technology aimed at improving public safety. Within the next two months, the council plans to acquire a high-tech drone that will significantly aid both police and fire services by providing rapid aerial views during emergencies. Special Administrator Felix Magnus noted that such technology will greatly reduce response times, a pivotal improvement given the transportation delays often faced in emergency situations.
Magnus highlighted the efficiency of the drone, stating, “Now, if we had a high tech drone and the call comes in, we just need to fly the drone. That takes about two minutes to get to the site.” This swift aerial reconnaissance is expected to assist first responders in making informed decisions more quickly.
The initiative is part of a broader collaboration with Fiji Police and the National Fire Authority, aiming to bolster their emergency response strategies. By integrating aerial imagery into their operational protocols, these agencies can enhance their situational awareness during crucial moments when every second counts.
