Over 200 attendees gathered for a fundraising dinner on Saturday at the Sheraton’s Denarau Island Convention Center, organized in partnership with Samson Lee Fiji, Sheraton Fiji Golf and Resort, and Rosie Events. The event aimed to raise funds to support individuals battling cancer in the western region of Fiji.
Local fashion designer Samson Lee, who lost his sister to cancer, expressed the personal significance of the event. “This is especially important for me. I usually hold charity events every year, but this specific one holds a special place in my heart because my sister died of cancer,” he stated. Lee emphasized his commitment to giving back each October, as cancer awareness is close to him.
He noted that the impressive turnout reflected the community’s genuine concern for the cause. Silvano Dressino, general manager of Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay, praised the collaboration for supporting cancer patients in the area. “Marriott celebrates Pinktober and has a history of helping communities. It was a pleasure for us to host this event, and we are delighted that the proceeds will benefit cancer patients,” said Dressino.
