The Health and Medical Services Ministry in Fiji has introduced the Sova Ni Bula app, marking a significant step forward in healthcare and the management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The app was inaugurated by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Luisa Cikamatana, who emphasized that the name “Sova Ni Bula,” which translates to “Basket of Life,” embodies its mission to enhance the health of Fijians.
During the launch event, representatives from various organizations, including Suakane Kentaro from JICA and Michael Glees from USAID, spoke in favor of the app, underscoring its potential to assist healthcare professionals in NCD management, reduce patient waiting times, and elevate the overall quality of care.
Developed with contributions from TaiwanICDF, USAID, JICA, and other collaborators, the Sova Ni Bula app is currently being trialed in four health centers. It is anticipated to boost healthcare efficiency, enhance patient outcomes, and ensure equitable access. The app’s features include offline capabilities, GIS-powered health trend tracking, and a user-friendly design.
The introduction of this app heralds a new era in healthcare for Fiji, providing hope for improved health services and outcomes for the community. As technology continues to advance, initiatives like Sova Ni Bula can lead to a healthier population and a stronger healthcare system.
Overall, this development is a positive sign for the future of healthcare in Fiji, demonstrating the commitment of various partners to enhance the well-being of its citizens.
