Fiji’s Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH Hospitals) has taken a noteworthy step towards enhancing healthcare accessibility by reducing general practitioner consultation fees to just $7.50 for all Fijians. This initiative reflects the hospital’s dedication to making healthcare both affordable and accessible, countering the notion that it caters predominantly to an elite audience.

Located in a modern 130-bed facility opposite Nadi International Airport and in Walu Bay, Suva, PSH Hospitals aims to deliver high-quality healthcare to individuals from diverse financial and cultural backgrounds. According to founder and CEO Parvish Kumar, this decision to lower GP consultation fees from $11.50 to $7.50 was influenced by community feedback and discussions with newly appointed board members, including those from the Great Council of Chiefs and various faith-based organizations.

Kumar reaffirmed PSH’s commitment to equitable healthcare access, stressing that the hospital is not limited to specialty services. PSH has established a reputation for offering advanced medical procedures, such as complex surgeries including open-heart operations, while also prioritizing primary healthcare services.

In addition to the reduced consultation fees, PSH Hospitals has launched a “get well now, pay later” initiative aimed at assisting patients who require additional treatments but may face financial hardships. This program is designed to facilitate manageable payment plans, emphasizing the hospital’s compassionate approach to patient care and its mission to prioritize saving lives.

Operating around the clock, PSH Hospitals is well-positioned to play a crucial role in improving healthcare services throughout Fiji. By addressing healthcare costs, this initiative offers a hopeful perspective on the future of healthcare in Fiji, indicating that it can become more inclusive and supportive for all residents.

Through its commitment to making healthcare more affordable, PSH Hospitals is taking significant strides toward fostering a healthier Fiji, encouraging people from all backgrounds to seek necessary medical care without the burden of financial worry.
