Fiji’s Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Hospital, the largest and most modern specialty hospital in the country, is committed to making medical services affordable and accessible for everyone. Located conveniently near Nadi International Airport, the hospital has implemented an inviting GP consultation charge of just $11.50, which is significantly lower than many private facilities. For the nation’s 10,500 registered sugarcane farmers associated with the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF), the charge is even more affordable at $7.50.

This reduced rate extends to all farmers in Fiji from various agricultural sectors, provided they present their local farming association membership or a statutory declaration for confirmation. As PSH Hospital’s founder and CEO Parvish Kumar emphasized, every farmer—whether engaged in dalo, pineapple, or livestock farming—can access these subsidized services as a means of supporting the agricultural community.

Since its opening by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka in July 2023, PSH Hospital has quickly established itself as a pioneer in Fiji’s healthcare landscape, offering complex treatments such as open-heart and brain tumor surgeries at competitive prices. Kumar highlighted the hospital’s mission to ensure healthcare services are not only affordable but also accessible to all residents of Fiji and the broader Pacific region.

In addition to the reduced consultation charges, PSH Hospital plans to introduce flexible payment options to assist patients in affording complex treatments. Furthermore, the hospital is developing initiatives that could allow patients who are financially unable to cover expensive medical procedures to receive treatment at no cost, based on set criteria.

These efforts make PSH Hospital a beacon of hope for healthcare in Fiji, aiming to transform medical services into a more equitable and compassionate system. The hospital’s goal of prioritizing patient care reflects a progressive approach to healthcare management in the Pacific, promising a brighter future for those in need of medical assistance.
