The Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) has forged a partnership with Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH), a prominent private hospital equipped with 130 beds, to improve access to quality medical services for Fijians. During a recent visit to PSH in Nadi, Chairman Ratu Viliame Seruvakula expressed admiration for the hospital’s advanced technology and skilled personnel. He emphasized the facility’s advantageous location near Nadi International Airport, which is expected to draw in distinguished visitors and dignitaries in need of reputable medical care, ultimately benefiting both healthcare and tourism sectors in Fiji.

Once formalized, this partnership is anticipated to serve not only the iTaukei community but also to spearhead health awareness initiatives aimed at encouraging early detection of chronic illnesses. Seruvakula pointed out a common issue where individuals seek medical attention only when severely ill, often resulting in avoidable complications. He voiced hopes that this collaboration would foster proactive health management and educational outreach throughout Fiji.

In reaction, PSH’s founder and CEO Parvish Kumar reiterated the hospital’s commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable medical care and expressed eagerness to work closely with the GCC. The inclusion of GCC representatives on the hospital’s board is aimed at ensuring that the needs of the iTaukei community are effectively addressed in the hospital’s decision-making processes.

Additionally, PSH’s innovative telemedicine initiatives are designed to broaden healthcare access to remote areas of Fiji, enabling patients to connect with specialists without the burden of extensive travel, thus significantly enhancing healthcare accessibility. This initiative aligns with government efforts to strengthen the healthcare sector and position Fiji as a health tourism destination.

The collaboration between GCC and PSH marks a significant advancement in Fiji’s healthcare landscape, promising economic benefits through improved medical tourism while enhancing health outcomes for local populations. This partnership signifies a vision of not only improved individual health but also national prosperity as Fiji strives to establish a prominent position in the global healthcare arena.

The developments at PSH, coupled with the support from GCC, offer a positive outlook for healthcare access and the economy at large, indicating that with ongoing dedication, Fiji can emerge as a leading destination for health tourism and high-quality healthcare services.
