Pacific Gold medallist Hansel McCaig delivered an impressive performance at the World Aquatics Swimming Championships held in Budapest, earning a commendable fifth place in the 100m Individual Medley heat. Not only did McCaig excel personally, but he also established a new Fiji National Record with a remarkable time of 50.47 seconds.

At just 20 years old, McCaig’s exceptional reaction time of 0.58 seconds off the starting blocks distinguished him from his peers in this competitive heat. He exhibited strong endurance and skill, consistently achieving swift split times of 11.13, 12.68, 13.29, and 13.37 during the race’s various segments.

McCaig’s determination was evident as he competed alongside his cousin Tolu Young and fellow swimmer Marselima Moss, showcasing the spirit of resilience and family support at this prestigious global event.
