Pacific gold medalist Hansel McCaig delivered an impressive performance at the World Aquatics Swimming Championships held in Budapest, finishing fifth in his heat for the 100m Individual Medley. Notably, McCaig not only achieved a personal best but also set a new Fiji National Record with a remarkable time of 50.47 seconds.
The 20-year-old swimmer distinguished himself with an exceptional reaction time of 0.58 seconds at the start, which contributed to his strong showing in the race. He maintained his momentum throughout, recording impressive split times of 11.13 seconds, 12.68 seconds, 13.29 seconds, and 13.37 seconds on his final lap.
McCaig’s determination and resilience were apparent as he competed alongside his cousin Tolu Young and teammate Marselima Moss, showcasing the spirit of teamwork and national pride.
