Former FijiFirst Members of Parliament Iowane Naivalurua, Viliame Naupoto, and Mosese Bulitavu have officially taken their oaths as Ministers in the Rabuka-Coalition Government. Naivalurua has secured the position of Minister for Policing, while Naupoto will serve as the new Minister for Immigration. Bulitavu is now appointed as the Minister Responsible for Climate Change.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the State House, presided over by His Excellency the President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu. In addition to these appointments, several Assistant Ministers were also sworn in: Aliki Bia as the new Assistant Minister for Information, Naisa Tuinaceva as the Assistant Minister for Transport, Penioni Ravunawa as the Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services, and Ratu Josaia Niudamu as the Assistant Minister for Justice.
Looking ahead, the Prime Minister has announced plans to hold a press conference later today to discuss these developments further.
This reshuffling of Ministerial appointments can be seen as a significant move towards addressing key issues within the government, particularly in areas such as immigration, climate change, and health services. It also highlights the Rabuka-Coalition Government’s commitment to inclusivity by incorporating members from different political backgrounds into leadership roles, which could foster a more collaborative approach to governance.
