Food rations provided by the government are set to begin tomorrow in the Western Division for residents located in evacuation centres. Currently, there are four activated centres that are home to a total of 61 households and 234 individuals in need.
The designated evacuation sites include Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, and the Vou Dance Group Office. These centres have received generous contributions of cooked meals and hygiene kits from various faith-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, and the Ministry of Health. Additionally, the Fiji Red Cross has delivered dignity kits to both the Saioni and Korovuto Secondary Evacuation Centres.
Public safety advisories are in place, urging individuals to stay prepared and to minimize any unnecessary risks during this time. The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) and the Western Divisional Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) continue to function actively, while the other EOCs across the country are currently monitoring weather conditions closely.
A Flood Warning has been issued for areas at risk of flooding near the Ba, Nasivi (Tavua), Nakauvadra (Rakiraki), and Nadi Rivers, and a Flood Alert is also active for other flood-prone regions related to all major rivers across Fiji. To ensure public safety, police officers are on standby for potential evacuations in vulnerable areas, urging residents to evacuate if necessary, particularly during daylight hours.
