The Denarau Golf & Racquet Club is set to host the Kriz Signage & Five Squares Pro-Am Tournament this Saturday, a much-anticipated event that will feature both professional and amateur golfers competing in a challenging 18-hole format. The tournament boasts significant support from sponsors including Dinesh Chand, Hexagon Group of Hotels, G-Tech, and the Fiji PGA.
Participants will vie for a $5,000 cash prize for professionals while amateurs will engage in a stroke play format. Golf Fiji’s president, Amitesh Chandra, expressed enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing its role in promoting local golf talent. “This event is a fantastic platform for our local and regional golfers. It provides valuable exposure for our amateurs while allowing professionals to showcase their skills,” Chandra noted.
With registration opening at 8:30 AM and a shotgun start at 9:30 AM, a competitive field of 80 players is expected to contribute to a dynamic day of golf. The participation fee will also include a buffet lunch to enhance the experience for all attendees.
This tournament follows the recent excitement generated by similar events such as the Pro-Am Championship, which saw record participation with 106 golfers from Fiji and abroad. The community’s growing interest in golf underscores the potential for the sport to thrive in the region, creating opportunities for players to display their skills and fostering camaraderie among participants.
As the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club readies for this showdown, the event promises to not only be a day of competition but also an avenue for strengthening community ties and enhancing the profile of golf across Fiji.
The anticipation surrounding this tournament is a testament to the vibrant golfing community in Fiji and holds promise for future sporting events in the area, highlighting the positive trajectory of golf as a beloved sport.
