The Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association (FSSAA) is set to enhance youth athletics through a new live coverage agreement with the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation for the upcoming Fiji Finals, taking place from April 24 to 26 at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. According to FSSAA President Marika Uluinaceva, the initiative aims to motivate young athletes rather than add pressure, offering them invaluable nationwide exposure.

This live coverage is expected to be a game-changer, allowing not only athletes in Fiji but also alumni and family members abroad to support their loved ones in real-time. Uluinaceva pointed out that when athletes know their performances will be showcased nationally, it can bolster their preparations and instill a sense of pride in their achievements.

The new broadcasting arrangement seeks to increase the visibility of these young competitors, promoting community support for school sports and reinforcing a culture of excellence within Fiji’s athletic community. As media coverage of athletic events evolves, similar to what is often seen in rugby league, it ensures that young athletes have greater exposure and potential opportunities.

By capturing the attention of family, friends, and even scouts, the live broadcasts provide an additional incentive for athletes to excel. The FSSAA’s commitment to this partnership reflects its dedication to nurturing local talent and fostering community engagement. With the Fiji Finals approaching, there is a palpable excitement in the air, promising an inspiring exhibition of the hard work and talent among young athletes throughout the country.

Such initiatives have a significant positive impact, not only in showcasing athletic prowess but also in strengthening community ties and cultural heritage in Fiji. This supportive environment can be crucial for encouraging future generations of athletes, paving the way for success both on and off the field.
