Prashantika Prasad, a 22-year-old aspiring model, is preparing to compete for the Miss Fiji Universe 2024 title in Mexico later this year. Currently in her fourth year of medical studies at the University of Fiji’s Saweni Campus in Lautoka, she is eager to enhance her confidence and seize new opportunities in the fashion industry.
Prasad expressed her motivation for entering the pageant, stating, “I entered this pageant to take up an opportunity that does not always come by in hopes of becoming more confident.” Her main message underscores the importance of self-confidence and the value of embracing opportunities, even when they seem intimidating.
In her platform, Prasad aims to raise awareness and provide support for developing a resilient society that empowers youth. Her focus is on promoting education and helping individuals grappling with mental health issues and drug addiction. She aspires to complete her medical education to pursue a career as a healthcare provider.
“I have gained a lot of respect for girls who step up on such big platforms and give their best. I have learned the importance of female unity as I have learned so much from all the contestants,” she said.
A former deputy head girl at Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College in Nadi, Prasad contributed to her school band, performing the lead song “My School” for their official music video. She is also a singer like her father, Shalendra Shambu Prasad, and is an active member of the University of Fiji’s musical band. In addition to her musical pursuits, she enjoys playing tennis and participating in community service during medical camps.
