The Digicel Fiji Women’s Futsal team achieved their second victory at the OFC Futsal Women’s Nations Cup with a decisive 4-0 win over Tonga.
The team, led by coach Jerry Sam, had an impressive start, scoring just ten seconds into the match when Sofi Diyalowai capitalized on a defensive error, confidently slotting the ball past Tongan goalkeeper Kalolaine Topui.
Despite the early setback, Tonga responded effectively, working to deny Fiji any opportunity to extend their lead. Koleta Likuculacula stood out for Tonga, but she was unable to beat Topui, who delivered a commendable performance to keep the scoreline at 1-0 by halftime.
After the break, Tonga faced another challenge as they conceded an early goal, with Likuculacula scoring, which put the match beyond their reach.
Both teams will take a rest day before Fiji prepares to face New Zealand, and Tonga gets ready to compete against the host nation, the Solomon Islands.
