The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has announced revised prices for Unleaded Petrol (Motor Spirit), Premix, Kerosene, Diesel, and LPG products, which will take effect on January 1, 2025. These prices are based on fuel and LPG imports made in November 2024, following a one-month lag period for price reviews.

FCCC’s analysis indicates that the prices for Motor Spirit and Premix will remain stable, primarily due to favorable trends in international fuel prices and freight rates, despite a stronger US dollar. In contrast, prices for Kerosene and Diesel are set to increase, reflecting the rise in international fuel costs exacerbated by the stronger US dollar. Additionally, LPG prices are expected to rise due to higher Butane Contract Prices and increasing global demand.

To ensure compliance with these new pricing regulations, the FCCC emphasized that its Enforcement Team will closely monitor wholesale and retail outlets. Consumers are encouraged to report any discrepancies in pricing, and the FCCC’s teams are readily available in various regions for assistance.

With these adjustments set to take place in January, consumers are urged to stay informed by checking for updates at local fuel outlets.

In summary, while some fuel prices will see increases due to international market dynamics, the FCCC’s commitment to monitoring compliance promotes consumer protection and transparency in the fuel market. By staying aware of these changes, consumers can better manage their expenses moving into the new year.
