Fiji’s Foreign Ministry Unveils Interactive Digital Transformation

In a significant move to improve its digital presence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched thirteen new websites, including a main site for the Ministry and twelve for its missions abroad. The redesigned platforms are highly interactive and informatively tailored to prioritize user experience.

During the launch, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua emphasized that this initiative aims to enhance service delivery and establish real-time connections between Fiji’s missions overseas and their clientele. The upgraded websites reflect the Ministry’s dedication to leveraging digital tools to expand Fiji’s diplomatic influence and provide timely updates on Fiji’s international engagements, all while focusing on economic growth and return on investment.

A standout feature of the new sites is the “Fijian Diaspora Registration Portal,” which allows Fijians living abroad to register with the Ministry. This portal will help the Ministry gather crucial data and analysis to guide policy decisions, particularly in times of crisis when reaching out to the Fijian diaspora is essential.

Qereqeretabua highlighted that the revamped website will serve as a comprehensive resource for disseminating information on significant Ministry initiatives, such as the development of Fiji’s inaugural Foreign Policy White Paper, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s concept of the Pacific as an “Ocean of Peace,” and the establishment of Fiji’s Institute of Diplomacy.

Fijians around the world will now have access to ‘Citizens Connect and Consular Services,’ which includes options for passport renewals and bookings. With the upgraded website, citizens can easily contact their nearest Mission and schedule appointments for assistance or consultations. Additionally, members of the diaspora can stay updated on recent news and advisories from the Fiji Missions.

Another notable feature is the ability for the Ministry to gather feedback from service recipients, offering a platform for individuals to share their opinions on how services can be improved.

Fiji’s Permanent Missions in New York and Geneva, along with High Commissions in Canberra, Wellington, London, New Delhi, and Port Moresby, as well as Embassies in Jakarta, Tokyo, Washington D.C., Beijing, and Abu Dhabi, now boast new websites. With just a click, Fijians can access and learn about the Ministry’s work and that of its missions globally.

The new websites can be easily accessed at www.foreignaffairs.gov.fj.
