In a move to improve its digital presence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched thirteen new websites, including a main website for the Ministry and twelve dedicated to its Missions.
These newly designed websites are interactive and informative, focusing on the user experience. During the launch, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua emphasized that this initiative aims to enhance service delivery and establish real-time connections between Fiji’s Missions abroad and their clients.
Qereqeretabua noted that the rebranding of the websites reflects the Ministry’s dedication to utilizing digital tools to expand Fiji’s diplomatic influence, by offering timely information on multilateral and bilateral engagements that support investment returns and economic growth for Fiji.
A significant feature of the new websites is the establishment of the “Fijian Diaspora Registration Portal,” allowing Fijians living overseas to register with the Ministry. This portal is designed to gather essential data that will aid in policy-making and outreach efforts, particularly during crises and emergencies affecting the Fijian diaspora.
The revamped website will serve as a comprehensive resource for sharing information about various initiatives by the Ministry, including the development of Fiji’s first-ever Foreign Policy White Paper, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s concept of the Pacific as an Ocean of Peace, and the establishment of Fiji’s Institute of Diplomacy.
Fijians worldwide will now have access to ‘Citizens Connect and Consular Services,’ enabling them to apply for passport renewals and appointments with Mission staff for assistance or consultations. The improved website also provides diaspora members with the ability to track updates and advisories from Fiji Missions.
Additionally, a noteworthy upgrade allows the Ministry to receive feedback from service users, giving them an opportunity to suggest improvements for the Ministry’s services.
The new websites support Fiji’s two Permanent Missions in New York and Geneva, along with five High Commissions located in Canberra, Wellington, London, New Delhi, and Port Moresby, as well as five Embassies in Jakarta, Tokyo, Washington D.C., Beijing, and Abu Dhabi. With easy access, Fijians can now appreciate the Ministry’s efforts and those of Fiji’s Missions abroad.
