Fiji’s Foreign Affairs Revamps Digital Presence with 13 New Interactive Websites

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially launched thirteen new websites aimed at enhancing its digital presence, including a central site for the Ministry and twelve dedicated websites for various diplomatic missions. Designed to be interactive and user-friendly, these platforms prioritize the needs of users.

During the launch, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Lenora Qereqeretabua, stated that this initiative intends to deliver more effective and efficient services while fostering real-time communication between Fijian missions abroad and their clientele. She emphasized that the redesigned websites reflect the Ministry’s dedication to leveraging digital tools to elevate Fiji’s diplomatic reach, ensuring that updated information on Fiji’s international engagements is readily available, with a focus on promoting economic growth.

A standout feature of the new sites is the “Fijian Diaspora Registration Portal,” which allows Fijians living overseas to register with the Ministry. This portal aims to gather essential data that will aid in policy-making, especially in times of crisis when reaching out to the Fijian diaspora is critical.

Qereqeretabua noted that the revamped websites will serve as a comprehensive resource for information on major initiatives undertaken by the Ministry, including the development of Fiji’s inaugural Foreign Policy White Paper, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s vision of the Pacific as an “Ocean of Peace,” and the establishment of Fiji’s Institute of Diplomacy.

Fijians around the globe can now access “Citizens Connect and Consular Services,” facilitating processes such as passport renewals and bookings. The upgraded features of the website enable citizens to easily contact their nearest mission and schedule appointments for assistance or consultations. Additionally, diaspora members can stay updated with the latest advisories from Fiji’s diplomatic missions.

Another key enhancement allows the Ministry to gather feedback from service users, creating an opportunity for individuals to voice their opinions on how services can be improved.

The new websites serve Fiji’s two Permanent Missions in New York and Geneva, as well as five High Commissions in Canberra, Wellington, London, New Delhi, and Port Moresby, alongside five Embassies in Jakarta, Tokyo, Washington D.C., Beijing, and Abu Dhabi. With just a few clicks, Fijians can now learn about the work of the Ministry and its overseas missions.

These new digital platforms are accessible at www.foreignaffairs.gov.fj.
