The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has successfully launched thirteen newly rebranded websites, including a central site for the Ministry and twelve for its Missions. These user-focused platforms are designed to be interactive and informative.
During the launch, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua stated that this initiative aims to improve service delivery and foster real-time connections between Fiji’s Missions overseas and their clientele. She emphasized the Ministry’s dedication to leveraging digital tools to enhance Fiji’s diplomatic presence, offering up-to-date information on Fiji’s multilateral and bilateral relations, with an emphasis on economic development and return on investment.
A significant new feature is the “Fijian Diaspora Registration Portal,” allowing Fijians living abroad to register with the Ministry. This portal will help the Ministry collect essential data to guide policy decisions and outreach, especially during emergencies affecting the Fijian diaspora.
Qereqeretabua noted that the revamped website will serve as a comprehensive resource for information regarding the Ministry’s initiatives, which include the creation of Fiji’s first Foreign Policy White Paper, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s peace initiative for the Pacific, and the establishment of Fiji’s Institute of Diplomacy.
Fijians worldwide can now access “Citizens Connect and Consular Services,” which facilitate services like passport renewal and bookings. The enhanced website features allow citizens to contact their nearest Mission and schedule appointments for assistance or consultations. Additionally, diaspora members can receive updates and advisories from Fiji Missions through the website.
Another important aspect of the new website is the Ministry’s ability to gather feedback from users, enabling them to share insights on how to improve services.
Fiji’s Permanent Missions in New York and Geneva, along with High Commissions in Canberra, Wellington, London, New Delhi, and Port Moresby, and Embassies in Jakarta, Tokyo, Washington D.C., Beijing, and Abu Dhabi now have updated websites. With just a click, Fijians can access information about the Ministry and its actions abroad.
