Fiji’s Foreign Affairs Goes Digital: Discover the New Interactive Experience!

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially launched thirteen new websites, including a main site for the Ministry and twelve for various Missions. These websites have been rebranded and designed to be user-friendly, interactive, and informative.

During the launch, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua remarked that this initiative aims to improve service delivery and facilitate real-time communication between Fiji’s Missions abroad and their audiences.

Qereqeretabua emphasized that the redesigned websites reflect the Ministry’s dedication to leveraging digital tools to enhance Fiji’s diplomatic presence, providing timely updates on both multilateral and bilateral engagements, with an emphasis on economic development and return on investment for the nation.

A key feature of the new websites is the “Fijian Diaspora Registration Portal,” which allows Fijians overseas to register with the Ministry. This portal aims to collect crucial data that will inform policy decisions, especially during crises affecting the Fijian diaspora.

The Assistant Minister also noted that the new website will serve as a comprehensive resource for showcasing important initiatives from the Ministry, such as the development of Fiji’s inaugural Foreign Policy White Paper, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s vision of the Pacific as an Ocean of Peace, and the establishment of Fiji’s Institute of Diplomacy.

Fijians living internationally will now have access to services like “Citizens Connect and Consular Services,” allowing them to apply for passport renewals and schedule appointments with Mission staff for assistance.

Additionally, diaspora members will be able to track updates and advisories from Fiji Missions through the enhanced website. The Ministry aims to encourage feedback from users, allowing them to share their opinions on how services can be improved.

The newly launched website encompasses Fiji’s two Permanent Missions located in New York and Geneva, five High Commissions in Canberra, Wellington, London, New Delhi, and Port Moresby, and five Embassies in Jakarta, Tokyo, Washington D.C., Beijing, and Abu Dhabi.

With the new websites, Fijians can easily access information about the Ministry’s work and the activities of Fiji’s Missions overseas. The websites are available at www.foreignaffairs.gov.fj.
