Fiji’s Foreign Affairs Goes Digital: 13 New Websites Launched!

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has unveiled a total of thirteen new websites, including a main site for the Ministry and twelve for its Missions. These websites have been completely rebranded to be more interactive and informative, focusing on user experience.

During the launch, Lenora Qereqeretabua, the Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, stated that the initiative aims to improve service delivery and foster real-time connections between Fiji Missions overseas and their clients. She emphasized that the revamped websites reflect the Ministry’s dedication to leveraging digital tools to expand Fiji’s diplomatic outreach by providing up-to-date information on the nation’s multilateral and bilateral interactions, with a strong emphasis on economic development.

A notable feature of the new website is the introduction of the “Fijian Diaspora Registration Portal,” which allows Fijians living abroad to register with the Ministry. This portal will facilitate the collection of vital data and analysis to guide policy decisions, especially in supporting the Fijian diaspora during crises and emergencies.

Qereqeretabua also mentioned that the updated website will serve as a central resource for sharing information about major initiatives led by the Ministry, such as the creation of Fiji’s first Foreign Policy White Paper, the Prime Minister’s vision of the Pacific as an “Ocean of Peace,” and developments at the Fiji Institute of Diplomacy.

Fijians residing globally will now have access to ‘Citizens Connect and Consular Services’, which includes services like passport renewals and bookings. The enhanced website features enable citizens to easily reach out to their nearest Mission and schedule appointments for assistance. Registered diaspora members will also be able to receive the latest updates and advisories from Fiji Missions.

Furthermore, the new platforms allow the Ministry not only to inform users of its services but also to gather feedback from them, providing an avenue for citizens to share their insights on how services can be improved.

Fiji’s Permanent Missions in New York and Geneva, along with five High Commissions in Canberra, Wellington, London, New Delhi, and Port Moresby, as well as five Embassies in Jakarta, Tokyo, Washington D.C., Beijing, and Abu Dhabi, all feature the newly launched websites. With just a click, Fijians can now access information and appreciate the Ministry’s work and the activities of Fiji Missions around the world.

The new websites can be accessed at www.foreignaffairs.gov.fj.
