Adi Cakobau School is set to make its inaugural appearance at the Extra Fiji Secondary Schools Football Championship, which will take place from August 20 to 23 at the newly renovated 4R Stadium in Ba. This year’s championship promises to be an exciting event with several new participants, reflecting the growing interest in youth football across Fiji.

Fiji Secondary Schools Football Association (FSSFA) President, Aminesh Ram, expressed gratitude to the Ba Town Council for facilitating the use of the stadium and for the immense enthusiasm surrounding this year’s tournament. “We are prepared and ready to host the games. The interest is immense this year,” he noted. Alongside Adi Cakobau School, several other schools will be making their debut in the competition, including Duavata Secondary School, Nilsen College, and Ba Methodist in the U19 Boys division.

Sponsorship support for the event comes from Extra, which has contributed $28,000 to facilitate the championship. Ram also acknowledged the continuous support from the Fiji Football Association, which plays a large role in fostering student participation in these sports.

The tournament will feature matches across six grounds, with the 4R Stadium as the central hub, boasting a newly completed grandstand and upgraded facilities. Teams will compete in various divisions, including both boys and girls, showcasing the exceptional talent and sportsmanship of Fijian secondary school athletes.

The Girls Division pools include various teams, with Adi Cakobau School placed in Pool A, while the Boys Division will highlight competitions among U15, U17, and U19 categories. This year’s championship not only underlines the growing interest in school sports but also aims to strengthen community ties and inspire young athletes to excel both on and off the field.

In celebration of youth sports engagement, this event stands as an opportunity for schools to foster a spirit of healthy competition and camaraderie among participants, paving the way for a vibrant future in athletics across Fiji.
