National striker and leading goal scorer in Oceania football, Roy Krishna, is set to play an important role in Fiji’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers next month. Known as the “Wonder Boy,” Krishna has been a key player for the national team for 16 years and holds the record for the most caps for Fiji.

Fiji’s football chief executive officer, Mohammed Yusuf, announced that the team has been training rigorously, having recently completed a Tri-Nations series against Solomon Islands and Hong Kong China. During this series, Fiji secured a victory over Solomon Islands and played to a 1-1 draw with Hong Kong.

The Bula Boys are scheduled to depart for Papua New Guinea on November 9 for two upcoming matches. Krishna is slated to arrive on October 6 and will participate in a match on October 10 before returning to India for club commitments. After his stint in India, he will rejoin the national squad in PNG.

Yusuf highlighted the importance of integrating experienced players such as Samuela Kautoga, Setareki Hughes, Akuila Mateisuva, and Krishna with the younger teammates. The coach, Rob Sherman, along with the management team, will develop a game plan focused on their upcoming match against Solomon Islands.

“We have confidence in this team and hope to start with a win against Solomon Islands,” Yusuf stated.

The fixtures for the World Cup Qualifiers include Fiji vs. Solomon Islands on October 10 at HFC Bank Stadium in Fiji, followed by matches against Papua New Guinea on November 14 and New Caledonia on November 17, both at PNG Football Stadium.
