Fiji’s Football Future Shines Bright with New Faces in Upcoming Friendlies

The Digicel Fiji Men’s National football team is currently in training for the FIFA International “A” Friendlies Tri-Nations Series 2024, with activities taking place at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba.

The squad includes promising young talents like Fiji U-19 captain Penisoni Tirau and defender Mohammad Aymaan, both of whom made a significant impact at the OFC U-19 Men’s Championships earlier this year.

Team manager Kartik Reddy has reported that 24 players are in camp, with two more expected to arrive shortly. Australian-based goalkeeper Jerome Narayan is already in attendance, while New Zealand-based Samuela Kautoga is set to join on Sunday, followed by team captain Roy Krishna on September 3.

The final squad of 23 players will be revealed on August 30 before the team’s departure to Suva. Under the guidance of head coach Rob Sherman, the team will compete against the Solomon Islands National team on September 2 at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, and then face the Hong Kong, China National team on September 8 at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

The 26-member squad consists of Isikeli Sevanaia, Jerome Narayan, Akuila Mateisuva, Samuela Kautoga, Patrick Joesph, Sterling Vasconcellos, Atonio Tuivuna, Mosese Nabose, Filipe Baravilala, Ivan Kumar, Muni Shivam Naidu, Sitiveni Cavuilagi, Thomas Dunn, Mohammed Raheem, Setareki Hughes, Aporosa Yasa, Nabil Begg, James Hoyt, Tevita Waranaivalu, Dave Radrigai, Sairusi Nalaubu, Etonia Dogalau, Roy Krishna, Mohammed Aymaan, Rahul Krishna, and Melvin Mani.
