The 2025 Fiji Secondary School’s Football Championship is set to feature an exciting lineup of 56 teams from various grades, taking place at the newly renovated Govind Park in Ba from August 20-23. Among the teams confirmed to participate, five have already secured their spots following the Southern zone playoffs held last week. These include Suva Muslim College U19, DAV College U15, Vunimono High School U15, Vashist Muni College U17, and Rishikul Sanatan College U17.
Elvis Goundar, president of the Southern Zone Secondary School Football Association, expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the young athletes during the playoffs, noting the high level of football demonstrated. He emphasized the strong positioning of defending champions Vashist Muni College U17, who will be a key team to watch, alongside Rishikul and Vunimono.
With 20 U19 teams, 20 open girls’ teams, eight U17 teams, and eight U15 teams prepared for competition, the championship is poised to be an exhilarating event. Schools from different regions will compete for the championship title, further enriching the competitive spirit of the tournament.
Goundar extended his gratitude to sponsors including Fiji Football, the Ministry of Education, and Oceania Fibreglass, as well as to parents and spectators whose support plays a vital role in the success of the event.
The championship not only showcases emerging football talent but also promotes community spirit and engagement, crucial for the growth of youth sports in Fiji.
