The Flying Fijians have announced significant changes to their starting lineup as they prepare for an exciting match against Spain this weekend during their Europe Tour. Only four players—prop Eroni Mawi, versatile player Caleb Muntz, captain Waisea Nayacalevu, and winger Jiuta Wainiqolo—remain from the squad that recently triumphed over Wales with a score of 24-19 in Cardiff.

Head Coach Mick Byrne explained that due to a series of injuries within the squad, several players will be rested, and adjustments have been made to ensure the team is competitive in what is expected to be a challenging encounter against the Spaniards.

Key changes include Sam Matavesi and Luke Tagi starting in the front row, while a fresh locking combination features Mesake Vocevoce and Ratu Leone Ratuisolia. Saimoni Uluinakauvadra, hailing from Vanualevu, will make his Test debut as the openside flanker, alongside Vilive Miramira at blindside and Albert Tuisue taking the number eight position.

In the backline, Simi Kuruvoli has been named scrum-half to partner fly-half Caleb Muntz. Nayacalevu will transition to inside centre, with Sireli Maqala filling the number 13 role. New addition Ponipate Loganimasi will occupy the blindside wing, sharing the field with Wainiqolo, while Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula rounds out the starting lineup at fullback.

The bench will feature Mesulame Dolokoto, Haereiti Hetet, Jone Koroiduadua, Temo Mayanavanua, Elia Canakaivata, Peni Matawalu, Vilimoni Botitu, and Inia Tabuavou, all set to make an impact.

The Flying Fijians are set to face Spain at Estadio Jose Zorrilla on Sunday at 2 a.m., and fans are eager to see how the new lineup performs.

In summary, the Flying Fijians are displaying resilience and adaptability as they approach this match, leveraging an opportunity to showcase new talents while still aiming for victory against Spain. The fresh faces bring hope for a thrilling game, and the team’s depth will be tested in this exciting matchup.
