Fiji’s Flying Fijians: The Spiritual Secret Behind Their Strength

Temo Mayanavanua, a second-rower for the FIJI Water Flying Fijians, believes that the team’s true strength lies in their spiritual connections rather than solely in their physical training. He stated, “For me personally, I feel like spiritual visits are most important. In Fiji, there are three pillars that define a Fijian: his relationship to the Vanua, his family, and his faith.”

As the team gets ready for their Pacific Nations Cup opener against Samoa, Mayanavanua highlighted the significance of spirituality as a guiding principle rather than just a routine. “One message that really captured my attention was what we value most: our relationship with God, and we carry that not only on the field but off the field as well,” he remarked.

The Flying Fijians are set to face Manu Samoa this Friday at 6pm.
