Fiji’s Flying Fijians Soar to Ninth in World Rugby Rankings!

The FIJI Water Flying Fijians have ascended to ninth place in the World Rugby rankings following their 41-17 triumph over Japan in the conclusion of the Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup. This significant advancement comes after a series of thrilling test matches that engaged a worldwide audience across different time zones.

Fiji entered the tournament eliminations as the leaders of Pool A after securing victories against strong opponents such as Samoa in Suva and Tonga in Nuku’alofa. Their semifinal match against the USA was a tough one, but the Flying Fijians demonstrated their determination, pulling ahead in the closing moments to earn a spot in the championship match against the host nation.

Japan, guided by renowned coach Eddie Jones, also made notable improvements throughout the tournament. However, they ultimately could not overcome a focused Fijian squad, led by coach Mick Byrne, who highlighted the significance of nurturing young talent for the future.

Fiji’s success has resulted in Australia dropping to 10th place for the first time, while Argentina rises to 6th. South Africa currently stands in 2nd place, with Ireland maintaining the top position in the rankings.
