The Flying Fijians’ Jiuta Wainiqolo delivered an outstanding performance as he scored a try and assisted another during Toulon’s 33-21 victory over Harlequins in the Investec Championship Cup. Wainiqolo, an Olympic 7s gold medalist from the 2021 Games, marked his contribution with a try right before halftime and continued to play a critical role in the second half, setting up another score that solidified Toulon’s lead.

In parallel, Peceli Yato, an experienced flanker, also made his presence felt for Clermont in their match against Bath, where he scored but unfortunately could not steer his team to victory as they fell 40-21. Other Fijian players contributing to their teams today included Bristol Bears’ Kalaveti Ravouvou and Viliame Mata, as well as Levani Botia of La Rochelle. The Bears secured a 35-29 win over Benneton, while La Rochelle narrowly lost 16-14 to Leinster.

The impressive display from Wainiqolo and his fellow Fijian players exemplifies the growing impact and resilience of Fijian talents in European rugby. Their continued success on the international stage brings hope for greater achievements in the future, as fans eagerly anticipate their contributions to the sport.
