Fiji’s Flying Fijians Ready to Defend Title in Thrilling Showdown Against Japan

Fiji’s Flying Fijians head coach Mick Byrne has announced that the team has no significant injuries as they prepare for the eagerly awaited Pacific Nations Cup final against Japan this Saturday. Byrne reassured fans that the squad is in good condition and ready to defend their title.

“We have a few minor issues, which is normal for the third week of training, but everyone has been training and is prepared to go,” Byrne stated.

Tackling effectively will be vital against Japan, who will benefit from home crowd support. The Fijian team is aware of Japan’s speed and fluid play style, and they are developing strategies to match that pace with their physicality.

“We are mindful of their speed on the perimeter, and that is something we are gearing up for,” Byrne added.

Byrne also emphasized the Flying Fijians’ strengths, noting, “We know we handle the ball well, and we are a strong physical team. Our scrum and lineout are solid, and we aim to leverage those strengths to respond to their speed with our own physical play.”

The Flying Fijians’ lineup to face Japan (1-15) consists of: Eroni Mawi, Tevita Ikanivere, Samuela Tawake, Isoa Nasilasila, Temo Mayanavanua, Ratu Meli Derenalagi, Kitione Salawa, Elia Canakaivata, Frank Lomani, Caleb Muntz, Ilaisa Droasese, Inia Tabuavou, Iosefo Masi, Vuate Karawalevu, and Isaiah Ravula.

The substitutes include: Mesulame Dolokoto, Haereiti Hetet, Meli Tuni, Mesake Vocevoce, Albert Tuisue, Peni Matawalu, Apisalome Vota, and Ponipate Loganimasi.
