The Fiji Water Flying Fijians are determined to address their disciplinary challenges as they prepare to face Wales in their upcoming Test match, part of the Autumn International series on Monday. Fly-half Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula shared that the team has been focusing on enhancing their discipline following a recent match against Scotland, where they received two yellow cards for players Frank Lomani and Apisalome Vota.
Armstrong-Ravula emphasized that the team has been training rigorously to avoid repeating past mistakes, stating, “We’ve been putting ourselves in various scenarios… We’re just training hard.” The Fijians view their encounter with Wales as another opportunity to showcase their skills, despite Wales grappling with a winless streak this year.
Reflecting on the historical rivalry, Armstrong-Ravula pointed to their last meeting during the Rugby World Cup in England, where Fiji narrowly lost to Wales 26-32. However, he is optimistic about the team’s evolution since then, noting the changes in personnel, environment, and coaching staff. “That loss was last year; now we’ve got a new team, a new environment, and a new coach, so we’re just looking forward to Monday and training harder,” he explained.
The match is set to take place at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, at 1:40 a.m.
This game presents a promising opportunity for the Flying Fijians to not only refine their discipline but also build on their past experiences to foster a stronger performance against a Welsh team also seeking redemption. The commitment to improvement and focus on teamwork can significantly contribute to their success on the field.
