Fiji’s Flying Fijians Eye USA Showdown in Pacific Nations Cup Semi-Final

The FIJI Water Flying Fijians are preparing for an exciting semi-final match against the USA in the Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup this Saturday. The match is set to take place at 10:05 PM Fiji time at the Chichibu Memorial Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. The Flying Fijians, who topped Pool A, will go head-to-head with the USA, the second-place team from Pool B. In the other semi-final, Japan, which led Pool B, will face Samoa the following day, September 15, at 6:05 PM, also at the same venue.

The Flying Fijians recently returned to Nadi after their strong victory over Tonga. While there are no significant injury concerns reported, the team will miss center Adrea Cocagi, who has been suspended for four games due to a red card received in the match against Tonga. Coach Mick Byrne shared his confidence in the team’s capabilities, noting after the match in Nuku’alofa, “I don’t know whether there’s a ceiling (referring to growth) in this squad as they’re a very talented team.”

Meanwhile, Tonga and Canada are set to compete for fifth place on September 14 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
