Fiji’s First Olympic Taekwondo Star Sets Sights on Future

Lolohea Naitasi of Team Fiji made her Olympic debut at the Grande Palais in Paris, competing against world number five, Julyana Alsadeq from Jordan. Despite putting forth a strong effort, the 17-year-old Taekwondo competitor was defeated by Alsadeq. However, she felt greatly supported by her team and fellow Oceania competitors throughout the match.

Naitasi shared that this Olympic experience was her best performance yet. She heeded the advice of her coach, Master Ra, and focused on enjoying each moment of her inaugural Olympic journey.

As the first Taekwondo athlete to qualify for the Olympics from Fiji, Naitasi is already looking ahead to her next goal—competing in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
