Faizal Koya, a lawyer from Nadi, has urged members of the Ma’unatul Islam Association of Fiji to pray for him following his recent appointment as Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Mr. Koya announced his new role while addressing attendees at the celebration of Prophet Mohammed’s birthday in Ba. He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the honor of becoming the first Muslim ambassador to the UAE.
“I ask for your continued support and the friendship we have with the Fiji Muslim League, and I ask you all to make dua (pray) for my journey,” he stated.
In addition to representing the UAE, Mr. Koya mentioned that he would serve as a consul for the broader Middle East region.
“Praise to Allah for granting me the opportunity to serve this country and its government. My role is to attract investors and strengthen relationships between our developing nation and countries in the Middle East,” he said.
He noted that he would not only represent the UAE but also work towards fostering connections throughout the Middle Eastern region while promoting investment.
Mr. Koya expressed pride in his appointment, highlighting the significance of receiving it during the blessed month of Rabi ul-Awal. He believes that this opportunity underscores his commitment to the right path.
“I am very proud to say that all Sunnis, whether from the Islam Association or Fiji Muslim League, I will be closer to the grave of our beloved Prophet Mohammed. I ask you to pray for me,” he added.
