The Fiji Performing Rights Association (FIPRA) Awards are set to make a much-anticipated comeback in 2025 after a two-year break, bringing with them an exciting new framework aimed at greatly enhancing the recognition of composers and contributors to Fiji’s vibrant music scene.

FIPRA Chair Isireli Gumatua announced that this refreshed approach is dedicated to celebrating the richness of the local music industry. He emphasized the importance of acknowledging the hard work and creativity of composers who have released music over the past year, encouraging artists to submit their entries for consideration.

“The return of the FIPRA MUSIC award is part of the strategic plan, representing renewal, growth, and our renewed commitment to recognizing the composers and music creators,” Gumatua stated, underscoring the event’s significance in the evolving landscape of Fiji’s music.

Notably, the upcoming awards will introduce a brand-new genre category, showcasing the diversity of musical talent within the country. FIPRA Director Laisa Vulakoro hinted at several surprises that will enhance the experience for participating artists, promising an engaging and celebratory atmosphere.

Aspiring award nominees should keep in mind that applications are due by February 27th, with the exciting awards ceremony slated for May 9th. This renewal of the FIPRA Awards signals a promising future for Fiji’s music industry, as it seeks to inspire and uplift artists and creators alike.
