FINTEL is essential in protecting Fiji’s international connectivity as digital demands continue to surge. Minister for Policing and Communications Ioane Naivalurua emphasized this point during his significant visit to the FINTEL facility at the Vatuwaqa Communications Centre, marking the first ministerial engagement with the organization in several years.

Naivalurua urged FINTEL to adopt a global perspective, enhance its resilience, and ensure that Fiji remains competitive and secure in our rapidly interconnected world. He recognized the crucial role of the FINTEL staff, commending their professionalism in managing the vital communications systems, especially during emergencies.

FINTEL CEO George Samisoni provided the Minister with an overview of Fiji’s strategic position as a regional telecommunications hub. He also discussed current initiatives focused on strengthening infrastructure and building redundancy to better serve the nation’s needs.

The Minister reiterated the government’s dedication to providing strong leadership and clear policy direction, ensuring that Fiji’s telecommunications sector is prepared for the future.
