The 54th RC Manubhai Ba Open is set to kick off tomorrow at the Rarawai Links Golf Course, ready to showcase two days of competitive golfing featuring some of the top talents from Fiji.

A total of 150 players will be vying for glory across both amateur and professional divisions, with defending champion Zoheer Ahmad striving to keep his title in the professional category. This year’s tournament has drawn 15 professional golfers who will compete for a prize pool of $7,000, with the winner receiving $1,200 on Sunday afternoon.

Tomasi Tuivuna, currently leading the Fiji PGA Order of Merit, is among the favorites alongside experienced players Roneel Prakash and Vikrant Chandra, the local president of the Fiji PGA and a prominent figure from Ba.

Amitesh Chandra, President of Golf Fiji, expressed appreciation for RC Manubhai’s consistent support, highlighting the vital role sponsorships play in promoting the sport. “RCM has been an exceptional partner, contributing $5,000 to this tournament, supplemented by the PGA’s additional $2,000. The golf course is in outstanding shape, and we anticipate some impressive scores, likely at least 5 under par,” Chandra stated.

The two-day tournament promises a rewarding experience for participants, with an entry fee of $100 that includes lunch on both days, in addition to complimentary cocktails and refreshments provided by RC Manubhai.

The first group will tee off at 6:30 am, featuring Yash Kumar, Sanjay Sharma, and Ganesh Chand. The day will conclude with the final group, including Anaya Saanvi, Nivan Chand, Mrs. Warjan, and Mohd Fawaz, starting at 4 pm.

This event not only showcases the talent of Fijian golfers but also strengthens community ties through support for local sports. The anticipation surrounding the tournament promises excitement for both players and spectators alike, highlighting the spirit of competition and camaraderie in golf.

Overall, the Ba Open stands as a testament to the growing popularity of golf in Fiji, providing a platform for both emerging and established talents to shine.
