Fiji’s Finance Minister Set to Lead Climate Talks at COP29

Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, will head the country’s delegation to the 29th Conference of Parties (COP29) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) scheduled to take place from November 11 to 22, 2024, in Baku, Azerbaijan. This decision was approved by the Cabinet following a meeting on Tuesday. COP29 will address key themes such as climate finance, carbon markets, mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, and ocean issues. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change will lead an interagency Technical Working Group to provide essential preparatory support for Fiji’s Delegation.
