Professor Biman Prasad, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, announced that his legal team has responded to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC), disputing the allegations made against him. In a statement to FijiLive, Prof Prasad mentioned that his legal counsel is managing the situation and is in communications with FICAC. He declined to comment further on the matter. This statement comes as FICAC revealed plans to formally charge Prof Prasad on Thursday. The commission also informed President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, Acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, Attorney General Graham Leung, and Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga about their intentions to proceed with the charges.
