Fiji’s Finance Minister Faces Charges: Legal Battle Looms

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad has stated that his legal team has reached out to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) to contest the allegations against him. In an interview with FijiLive, Prof Prasad mentioned that his attorneys are managing the situation and are in communication with FICAC. He has chosen not to comment further on the matter. This statement follows FICAC’s announcement that they plan to file charges against him on Thursday. Additionally, FICAC has informed President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, Acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, Attorney General Graham Leung, and Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga about their intention to pursue charges against Prof Prasad.
