Fiji’s Film Scene Shines: A New Era of Storytelling Emerges

Fiji’s audio-visual and film industry is demonstrating significant potential for growth and is becoming increasingly vital.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, made this remark during the premiere of the locally produced film “Langha Phobia,” which focuses on the theme of “Trust and Respect in a Marriage,” held at Life Cinema in Nakasi on Friday.

Professor Prasad pointed out that Fiji is emerging as a favored destination for film production due to its beautiful islands, marine life, culture, and heritage.

He noted, “Interestingly, every film by Vimal Reddy carries an authentic Fijian essence and delivers strong social messages that resonate with local audiences while challenging societal norms.”

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that films speak a universal language, connecting individuals across diverse cultures, nationalities, ages, and social and economic backgrounds. As a prominent form of contemporary art, movies bridge gaps between people, highlighting shared values and emotions, and serve as a powerful storytelling medium.

Professor Prasad also recognized the director, producer, and entire cast and crew for their hard work and dedication in bringing the project to fruition.
