Fiji’s Audio-Visual and Film industry is demonstrating significant potential for expansion and is increasingly becoming an essential sector.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad emphasized this point during the premiere of the locally filmed and produced movie “Langha Phobia,” which focuses on the theme of “Trust and Respect in a Marriage.” The event took place at Life Cinema in Nakasi on Friday.
Professor Prasad noted that Fiji is emerging as a preferred destination for film production due to its stunning islands, marine life, and rich culture and heritage.
He remarked, “Every film by Vimal Reddy embodies an authentic Fijian essence with powerful social messages that resonate with local audiences and aim to break societal barriers.”
He further stated, “Films speak a universal language, connecting people from different cultures, nationalities, generations, and social and economic backgrounds. As a leading form of contemporary art, movies bridge gaps among individuals, highlighting shared values and emotions, and serve as an impactful medium for storytelling.”
DPM Prasad also expressed his appreciation for the Director, Producer, and the entire cast and crew for their hard work and commitment in realizing the film’s vision.
