Fiji’s Film Industry: A Rising Star on the Global Stage

Fiji’s audio-visual and film industry is showing significant growth and becoming increasingly vital. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad made this statement at the premiere of the locally filmed movie “Langha Phobia,” which centers on the theme of trust and respect in marriage, held at Life Cinema in Nakasi on Friday.

He pointed out that Fiji is emerging as one of the preferred film production destinations globally, due to its picturesque islands, rich marine life, and vibrant culture and heritage.

Professor Prasad noted that every film by Vimal Reddy incorporates a distinct Fijian essence, delivering impactful social messages that resonate with local audiences and challenge societal norms. He emphasized that film transcends cultural and national boundaries, connecting individuals of all ages and backgrounds. As a form of contemporary art, cinema breaks down barriers and highlights shared values and emotions, serving as a powerful storytelling medium.

The Deputy Prime Minister commended the director, producer, and entire cast and crew for their dedication, hard work, and collective efforts to realize this vision.
