For the first time in the history of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific in Fiji, Kara Koroi from the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation will step into the role of Executive Producer. This significant appointment marks a transition from reliance on overseas consultants, as Koroi will now oversee productions entirely managed by local talent.
As Manager for 2day and Gold FM, Koroi’s new position is seen as a historic moment for FBC, indicating a shift towards local ownership and expertise in sports broadcasting. The initiative is viewed as a crucial advancement for the organization, with the team eager to embrace this opportunity for further growth and development in the coming years.
FBC General Manager TV Sitiveni Halofaki expressed pride in this achievement, stating, “This is the first year that even the executive producer role will be handled by our staff, which previously was taken care of by consultants from overseas. Our staff will now manage all international games as the executive producer for the Drua matches. This marks the beginning of a new era, and we are committed to moving forward over the next two years while we continue to learn.”
Additionally, the presence of a Fijian commentator will enrich the viewing experience. Renowned FBC Sports commentator Satish Narain will team up with Greg Clarke for the commentary during the seven home games, bringing a local flavor to the broadcasts.
As the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua prepare for their season opener against Moana Pasifika at 3:35 pm this Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka, the FBC Sports crew is hard at work behind the scenes to deliver a seamless viewing experience for fans. Viewers can catch all the action live on FBC Sports.
This milestone not only signifies a step up in the capabilities of FBC but also reinforces the growing trend of local talent taking on prominent roles in sports broadcasting. The hope for continuous improvement and development shines brightly as the Fijian sports community embraces this new chapter.
