The Textile Clothing and Footwear Council of Fiji (TCF Council) is gearing up to send representatives to the Australia International Sourcing Fair (AISF) this month, marking its return to such exhibitions since the pandemic. The event is set to take place from November 19 to 21 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre in South Bank, Victoria.
The TCF Council emphasized that Fiji plays a vital role as a regional sourcing hub for Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. They highlighted the success of the ‘Make it in Fiji’ initiative, launched over a decade ago with support from AusAID, which revitalized the local industry.
Fiji’s textile sector has managed to produce notable brand products catering to markets in America, Australia, New Zealand, and even Europe. The council pointed out that Fiji distinguishes itself from larger manufacturing countries like China, Bangladesh, India, and Vietnam by focusing on flexibility, quality, and smaller production runs.
With a strong commitment to both social and corporate responsibilities, Fiji’s manufacturers are lauded for their ability to deliver shorter, custom runs. Their English-speaking business environment ensures exemplary customer service, further enhanced by the famous warmth of the Fijian people.
Confirmations have been received that companies such as Danam (Fiji) Pte Ltd, Nagsun Apparel Fiji Ltd, and United Apparel (Fiji) Pte Ltd will represent Fiji at the AISF.
This participation not only showcases Fiji’s resilient textile industry but also offers an opportunity to strengthen connections with international partners and explore new markets. The hope is that this event will boost the industry further and reaffirm Fiji’s place on the global sourcing map.
In summary, Fiji’s strong presence at the AISF underscores its commitment to innovation and quality in the textile industry, representing a bright future for the sector in a post-pandemic world.
